Festival highlights Mesa Unified’s music programs

Come to the district’s eighth annual Elementary General Music Curriculum Festival. It begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 at Skyline High School, 845 S. Crismon Road, Mesa. Admission is free.

The festival features more than 150 fifth-graders from 13 schools presenting songs, instrumental pieces, creative movement and improvisation. This year’s festival coordinator is David Hayden, Adams band and general music teacher.

Participating schools and teachers are Adams, David Hayden; Hale, Corinna Wyatt; Highland, Stacy Barraclough; Holmes, Rachel Malone; Johnson, Aimee Vining; Keller, Maria Curtis; Lincoln, Aldy Montufar; Lindbergh, Tiffany Peterson; Longfellow, Christina Soper; Pomeroy, Linda Anderson; Sirrine, Stephen Wibe; Taft, Michelle Rice; and Whitman, Katye Wilkinson.
